CAYUCOS CA – BEST BEACH – WARM WEATHER – DOG-FRIENDLY
Cayucos CA, is a located on a long sandy beach next to the Pacific Ocean. Surrounded Morro Bay to the south and Cambria to the North. Past the Estero Bluffs State Park and the Abalone Farm you will find mass inaccessible steep hills and cliffs. Cayucos is comprised of four different areas which include:
ONE – CAYUCOS CA DOWNTOWN
Cayucos CA Downtown, by the pier is where the locals and tourists go for entertainment. There are several restaurants and small cafes right on the water. Also, there are a few nice inns and motels.
Behind the town and to the south spans a large residential community with homes on the water going all the way back to Highway One. Cayucos does not have a city government and all of the services one would expect are provided by the County of San Luis Obispo, which include: Police services, Sherriff, Building and Safety, Library, and a small Fire Department.
TWO – CAYUCOS CA STUDIO DRIVE ON OCEAN
Studio Drive, starting at Dog Beach going south, boasts about a hundred homes that are right on the sand. Behind the homes on the sand are about three rows of homes on Studio Drive and east to Highway One. If you are looking for a home near the water, this would certainly be an area you would want to consider.
THREE – CAYUCOS EAST OF HIGHWAY ONE
Cayucos CA East is a residential area. The stretch is south from Dog Beach down from the local fire station. Several of these homes are on a hill providing specular ocean views and sunsets.
There is also a mass of land behind East Cayucos CA, which is not developed because the county declared the land unstable, thus it is very difficult to get a building permit. This unbuildable land can also be found directly behind the downtown area east of highway one. Prices for the lots are amazing low, but since they cannot be developed, some owners have donated the land to charities.
FOUR – CAYUCOS CA OLD CREEK ROAD
From Downtown Cayucos you can drive east on Old Creek Road past the Whale Rock Reservoir. This area is all rural where you can find homes on acres and agricultural land. This is a very unique area as the weather is very nice and you are very close proximity to the water and downtown Cayucos.
CAYUCOS CA – BEACHES
Cayucos CA has the best sandy beach on all of the Central Coast. The waves are often big enough to go surfing. The easy access into the water makes it conducive to SCUBA diving or to launch a small boat. The sand it soft with very few rocks, and plenty of sand to lay out and sunbath.
CAYUCOS CA – DOG-FRIENDLY TOWN
Cayucos CA is an ideal dog-friendly destination. It is one of the few beach towns in California without a leash law. The full length of Cayucos Beach is entirely leash-free. So, you, your children, and your dogs can run around on the sandy beaches at your leisure. Dogs are welcome in the water, on the sand and on the boardwalk year round. Many of the shops allow dogs, so you do not have to tie up your dog while shopping. Several of the inns have accommodations and extras to make your furry friends feel right at home.
CAYUCOS CA – WARM WEATHER
Like all costal beach towns, you will get some fog in the morning. However, like Avila Beach, Cayucos CA is situated in a protective cove. When the fog comes in, it is often diverted toward Morro Bay. This is idea for folks wanting a second homes as the odds of less desirable weather is significantly reduced compared to most other beach towns. If you are planning on living permanently in Cayucos you will be able to enjoy misty morning and sunny days.
CAYUCOS CA – HOMES
If you are looking for a home on or near the ocean or are craving a home with an ocean view, there are many homes in all prices ranges for you to consider. However, even though Cayucos CA is one of the more popular areas, when I wrote this, I found that you can buy a 2 bedroom condominium, on the West Side Downtown area for under $500,000. The majority of the other homes available tend to be over $700,000.
Many Cayucos CA properties can be used for vacation rentals, thus, it would be a wise area to invest in. Daily Rental in Cayucos can be can be very high, especially if your home as an ocean view and is near down town or on the Studio Strand.
